Introducing Drylife Lady Premium Maternity Pad

So, you’re noticing that it’s harder to control your bladder after giving birth, you’re not alone. Along with many other postpartum symptoms such as constipation and perineal pain, postpartum incontinence is extremely common but Drylife Premium Maternity Pads mean it’s one less thing to worry about.

While the Drylife Premium Maternity Pads are nowhere near as cute as your baby’s first outfit, maternity pads are just as important and should be included in the bag you take to hospital with you. While the hospital will provide you with a pair of net mesh fixation pants and a huge hospital-grade pad, many women aren’t a big fan of this combination and we feel it is important to prepare and find the product you’re comfortable with.

Tip: You should not use a tampon during the recovery period following birth, they are ineffective against the flow or urine and they are thought to be unsafe during the recovery period as they can increase the risk of infection until you’ve had your six-week check-up.

The Drylife Premium Maternity Pad has been designed for women looking for a pad that offers superior performance and caters for all degrees of postnatal incontinence & bleeding. The anatomical shape ensures a perfect fit and the adhesive strip offers peace of mind by keeping the pad firmly in place. Feel confident and secure with the ultimate protection of a Drylife Premium Maternity Pad.

Why do you need pads after giving birth?

Postpartum incontinence following pregnancy and childbirth is the involuntary leakage of urine while coughing, sneezing, laughing or during activities. It is thought that approximately half of all pregnant women experience incontinence following pregnancy. This is because the muscles around the bladder and pelvis are weakened during delivery and on top of that your uterus shrinks over time and sits directly on the bladder. Don’t even get started on the hormonal changes that affect your bladder too…

New mums also experience postpartum bleeding, this is known as lochia, it is in simple terms a long, heavy period. It is important to remember that your doctor will likely suggest that you don’t use your normal tampons or menstrual cups as they can increase the risk of infection until you’ve had your six-week check-up.

How long does postpartum incontinence last?

It can last for a couple of weeks or even a few months for urinary incontinence to end, this differs from person to person but there are steps you can take to regain bladder control quicker, you should do so research into these methods if it is something that concerns you.

Lochia can last for up to six weeks but it is often heavy for up to 10 days after childbirth. It is important to note that every new mum will experience lochia in different ways to others.
